Camping or hotel / and Friday gathering...

Ya, but those goes where the stetson straps under their chin and ties with short sleeves. ;missingteeth;

You're right. I looked that up. The strap under the chin looks major stoopid. I'm glad they didn't catch me either. That would have been embarrassing.

The Marine Corps is who you should look up when you want to know how to dress professionally with a military spin. Definitely the Ohio troopers follow that. Penn troopers are all over the place. I looked into it more after you posted. Some don't do the chin-placed strap. Some don't do the short-sleeved tie. Some tuck the tie into their shirt.

I had to wear a tie in long sleeves on embassy duty. But we had to wear a clip-on. I don't think grabbing my tie would have helped anyone trying to assault me back then, or even now, but that was the idea. Grabbing my tie wouldn't be a handle for you to control me with. I would just go from trying to be professional to becoming enraged and kill you. Which was my job before I was accepted to be a Marine Security Guard.

For a long time, the Academy Commander was former Marine, and he rarely let anyone instruct that wasn't prior military. As instructors, we were taught to be harshly firm and professionally fair. Or something like that...

Even today when I tuck in a button up shirt, I check to make sure my gig line is straight.

I've been a sack of shit since. I only have one pair of jeans, and it it has a hole in it. I don't have a button shirt. My wife buys me clothes but I give them to GoodWill.

I had to buy a suit for some event I had to go to. I got it off the rack at J C Penny's. If I had to lift my arms in it, all the seams would tear out. This is a far cry from Marine Security Guard School. We got a tailor there and had our dress blues (back then you didn't get issued those in recruit training--we graduated in the green stuff) and 3 suits and all our trousers (girls wear pants) tailored. And the "dreaded blue blazer". Everything was cut so all your weapons and gear would fit under the suit jackets.

My suit came from Penny's.

Mine too.

I got it because it was required for the honor of being an usher at my cousin's wedding 5 years ago. I haven't worn it since.

My son and I got one when my father passed. I got 3 matching ties. One for my son and I, and had the 3rd one put on my dad.

40 days and counting...

For Friday, it looks like there are a couple votes for the Chuggers/Moose gathering while there may be 1 or more extra for just parking their vehicle/rigs at SOP and camping instead after traveling.

Jim: If you're concerned about being set up for Saturday morning/ feeling rushed/not missing any action, just hang at SOP.

I don't care either way. If the Friday chugger is early enough, I can make it. Otherwise, I'll see y'all at the campground Fir-Sun.

Oh, and +1 for a JC Penny suit.

Last black suit had pinstripes, faded in color, and was 17 years old.

Sorry about your father. That's hella depressing. Mine is 84. Not looking forward to that crap.

Did we decide where the meet is?

I'm thinking after my drive there on Friday... I'm gonna be happy to pick a camp spot... get set up... build a fire and roast a couple hot dogs.

I am torn on that.

I really want to camp Friday night but I don't know if I can make it out there early enough to go 20 miles past the meet and greet, set up camp, beat it back to the meet and greet and then get back to camp.

I guess I missed something... like there even was a meet and greet.
