Hello I need help. I am replacing the ball joints on my 1988 Bronco II and on my upper ball joint there is a camber adjuster above the nut on the shaft of the ball joint under the spindle. How do I remove it? It has a channel in it and teeth as if a twelve point socket can be used to remove it. If so can u tell me what size to use? hank you Terry

Take both nuts off, then smack the lower ear until the lower ball joint uncones, then you can just drive the whole knuckle out by tapping on the upper ball joint. The sleeve doesn't unscrew or anything, it's smooth the whole way around.

You can usually pry them out too once the nut is off, but the other way is better.

You may have understood it, but just to clarify and second what ADSM said. You do not need to remove the adjuster, the ball joint will slide out of the adjuster (might take a little convincing) once you remove the nut. If you remove the adjuster from the knuckle it'll need an Alignment ASAP, if you don't remove it might not need an alignment at all. So it's best to leave the adjuster in the knuckle.

Unless it has the factory non-adjustable sleeve in there, I would have it aligned anyway. If it was ever adjusted before it may have been due to wearing tires or components replacing them may bring it back to the factory geometry, meaning it would be out of line again.
