any ever heard of someone bypassing a camshaft position sensor?

sorry But I really don't think this will work to great, if you did how would the truck adjust the spark for diff RPMs ?

I have never even heard of anybody wanting to. Sonds like a terrible idea. I've had my share of "bypassing" sensors and have learned my lesson. sensors are your friends in most cases. with the exeption of the brand new vehicles, they have too many! TPMS(tire pressure monitoring system) sensors SUCK.

I thought they used crankshaft position sensors for spark? Because camshafts spin four times slower than the crankshaft. Unless they are using variable valve timing?

The camshaft sensor is used for locating #1 cylinder for cylinder identification.:)shady

You're all wrong !! :D Camshaft Position ( CMP ) sensor is for fuel injector timing. Crank position sensor is for ignition and related functions such as RPM.

Generally , RVB engines will run with a bad CMP but poorly, won't run without crank position.

Bent Bolt, do you have that funny tool that's used to put on a new CMP sensor? I got one on the advice of a fellow mechanic, and let me tell you I love the thing. Makes the job so much quicker.
