Hey guys and gals. I'm thinking about changing the cam in my 2.3 because I went with a comp cams magnum 280h and it isn't a good fit for a daily driver vehicle (doesn't much like anything under 3k rpms). I think I'm going to change it out for the comp cams high energy 260h which is more of a daily driver torque increasing cam.

The 280h has a valve lift of .460 and I have dual rate valve springs that are suitable for that amount of lift.

The 260h have a valve lift of .420. Will I need to install new valve springs or will the current ones work fine?

I assume the current ones will be fine but I thought I'd double confirm since engine building isn't exactly my fortè.

The installed springs should have no problem with the decreased lift. They are likely higher rate per travel and also have internal spirals that diminish harmonic distortion of the spring at higher cycle rates. They should be able to handle lower lift & rpms with no problem.
IOW, they are higher performance than factory, and will be 'tasked' less with the replacement cam.

Thanks for your reply Tom. That's pretty much the train of thought I had going but I just wanted to make sure.
