I am tearing down my 1992 4.0 and the cam bearings look like they are copper. There is just a little bit of wear that is on the bottom side of the bearing which I believe is normal. I was just wondering if they are normally copper or if they are wore out.

If you can see the copper on engine's they are usually junk.

"worn down to the copper" is time for replacement.
