Call me crazy... V8 BB

Where'r you at in Louisiana ? Big block C-6's are not hard to find around here (Opelousas)

I don't know about the trans used in the 335 series but with the big FE's, the 427 & 428, they had the C-6 with the larger 1 3/8" input spline due to the huge amount of torque. They are really hard to find.

Just outside of Baton Rouge, I was just about to go check out Black's Salvage to see if i could pull one with a controller. That's what I'm worried about right now because the prices of the controllers on Jegs and Summit are scaring me

And at that, do C6 trannys even need controllers? I'm just used to running computer controlled EFI, not used to the carb thing

nope no comp controlled C6s

C-6's had two controllers, one being that "T" shaped thing between the seats and that black rectangle under your right foot. Kind of simple. Damn, sitting here at the computer and a '64' Falcon vert just went by, must be Spring!

Haha, well that takes care of that issue. Now what kind of springs would you recommend for the front end? The only aftermarket springs i can find are for lift kits, but I only need them to be stiffer. Any suggestions?

go to a spring shop and get some "customs"

C-6's need no controller. They're the good old fashoined vacuum modulator operated.

I'm going to PM you with a phone number to call. This guy's THE best transmission guy around here He's located up US 71 west of Krotz Springs. If he doesn't have what you want, he'll know where to get one. I know where there's a possibility of one now in a 78 Ford Elite behind a 351M/400, but it could also be an FMX, I'll have to check it out when I have time.

i have a good c6 from a 428 66 thunderbird. but the shipping would probably kill ya. i drove the car and the trans shifted fine.

I've got the same but won't fit that motor. If your's has the 1 3/8" input, those are the tough ones.

update

I talked with my racing buddy yesterday some more about the engine and i found some very interesting information on the 460 he has. its putting out 750 hp at the flywheel and is camming more than a septic tank stinks. then he showed me the extra c6 that he has. i believe he said that the stall speed was higher than my 4.0 could rev at wot. needless to say, many major modifications will have to be made to the frame and engine bay just to be able to keep this truck from warping. :icon_welder:

Hey, sounds like a normal DD! Sounds like you might have a brute on your hands, might want to de-tune it a bit? I know everyone has their own opion on what is too much power or just right.
