hi guys, i have a 89 mazda b2200 truck (4 banger). anyhow i need help on how to pass smog, the problem is the piston rings are old. i havnt taken it yet but here is what has been done.
new cats (cats as in plural, i guess the new laws say you have to have 2 now, we had to fabricate it but its on there)
new muffler (old one was rotted out)
new oxygen sensor
carb was rebuilt and is running lean.
problems- timing belt is on its last leg, needs piston rings,
before the cats and the o2 sensor it blew all kinds of smoke out the tail. its not as bad now. when we replaced the old stuff the cat that was on there was clogged and so was the sensor.
anyhow is there any tricks to get this thing to stop smoking long enough to get a pass? i bought 3 bottles of this stop leak stuff, it fixed a leak i had on the front last time i used it. i was thinking 3 of thoes with an oil change with 20-50.
would throwing some everclear down the carb help?
i need this truck to pass (runs fine) but i dont have the money to get the heads machined or replace the engine.
thanks
