Come to Brazil with me on my next trip, there it is over $7 a gallon (or 3.8liters). Yea we have nothing, absoulutly nothing to complain about.
i'm fairly sure that this is only a partial quote of my post, and my point was someone was complaining, when right next door there is a worse gas price situation, and the only reason i mentioned my cost for gas, is to put it into perspective that it's not all doom and gloom for you, not just to rant and rave about it.
in a few years im sure okotoks will be part of calgary.![]()
You are 100% correct. I just took the part that lead me to believe you were complaining.
You have been hinting that US Citizens should not complain however. But I really don't think most US Citizens know, or care for the matter, what you are paying for gas. Everyone here (and everywhere else) knows their own personal economic situation and how this cost increase is affecting them. If it's putting a cramp on their finances, can they not be upset because ________ pays more for fuel? I mean, you have to be pretty narrow minded to not see my point. This is not a matter of which country pays more for gasoline. It's a matter of what it is doing to your personal finances. And how do you or I know what "Doom and Gloom" is to someone else?
There are a lot of people here in really shitty situations because of gimmick home loans. Granted, you should always know what you're getting into. Long story, but I did get suckered into a 3-1 ARM which after 3 years could of had an interest rate as high as 13.8%. I had the option to accept it at the table, or lose my down payment. There was a lot of this shit going on here. I can only imagine how bad off I would be right now if I hadn't refinanced.
again, i ask, how does that compare to a) the longevity of the tires, i bet the ones you are buying now last longer because of newer technology, or work better, and b) how does that compare to yearly income of a farmer?
Actually prices have been going up with the price of oil. Not sure when they came out but Firestone has been offering the same model of 23 degree tire for several years and the price keeps going up on them. Same stinkin tire.
Radials do perform a lot better than my bias ply and cost even more... the thought of spending that kind of money on my weekend warrior is laughable at best.
Chinese or Indian tires cost 2x more than my US made Kelly-Springfields did 10 years ago and by no means do they last longer. Even after spending most of their time sitting out side mine are still black and look new at 10 years of age. The knockoffs turn gray and crack if you look at them wrong.
Dunno how it plays out, but keeping rubber on and inflated on all the various farm implements and trucks has got to be a major expense. And cornstalks, deer antlers and pavement are still their major enemies.
i don't disagree with any of your points, everything is more expensive today, but that's just it... EVERYTHING is more expensive... including your wage (to your employer)
i'll bet that most things, tires, and fuel included, are on par, for what the average cost was, based on income, from xx years ago...
found a receipt from a wedding a while ago, i think it was my father's first wedding, 650$ covered all the alcohol... my brother's wedding (in 99) i think they said they paid 9000 in alcohol... but i might have these figures confused...
you're right, not every citizen knows what's right next door... and that's the problem, that's my point, that people think they are so worse off than others, but the truth is, it's not so... i'm not complaining in that one small exerpt, because i'm pissed about gas prices in canada (even though i am, i don't want to spend 80+$ to fill my truck) but more so that i hear people who are paying significantly less than me complaining about it...
i see your point, but i don't agree with it...
It's all good. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I don't see why you don't feel slighted about being overcharged for gas/oil/oil products/everything though.
I really hope this Bin Laden thing doesn't give someone the bright idea that oil needs to go up again because of a disturbance in the Middle East.
If you voted Democrat (like most of NY) last election - you asked for this.
