California green... Disgusting

You got it backwards, as of today the Canadian dollar closed at 1.0566 American dollars, thus the Canadian Dollar is more valuable. (Source http://www.bank-banque-canada.ca/en/rates/exchange.html)

who are you and where in calgary do you live?

(calgarians are a rare breed amung these parts)

Once again, I don't see why you find yourself more justified to complain. And yes, you are complaining. The rest of us are paying more than we did before too. Should we all ask you how much you paid before we can say our gas price are too high?

Not trying to be a dick, I just don't understand your logic.

i'm not more justified in complaining about the gasprices which is why i'm NOT complaining about the gas price, i'm complaining how so many people are whining because they pay so much less than the rest of the world, but that margin has gotten slightly smaller... my point is, suck it up, and deal with it, inflation is a natural part of life, if it wasn't, we would still be paying 25 cents for a loaf of bread! and making 1000$ a year

it just seems like some people (insert country name here) seem to need SOMETHING to complain about regardless... why can't some people (insert country name here) just deal with the natural rising cost of everything (including minimum wage) and quit complaining like a whiny little... well i think you know where i'm going here... i pay a lot more for gas than a lot of you do, and you will not hear me complain about it, because there are far worse things in the world than filling my tank

All caps, and this ↓ lead me to believe you were complaining about gas prices.

* GUESS WHAT, I PUT $75 IN MY TANK ON WEDNESDAY, AT 1/4 FULL, AND IT STILL DIDN'T FILL IT!!!!!!!! AND MY DOLLAR IS WORTH MORE THAN YOURS!!!!!!!!!

Griping is the way some people do this. I don't know exactly how your system works in Canada. But in the US, citizens get loud about issues that effect their lives in hopes their government representative will listen and move the message up the ladder until it gets to the appropriate party, person, or organization.

because there are far worse things in the world than filling my tank

I completely agree. There are a lot worse things going on that don't get attention. For example, 99.9% of the world didn't want to hear about the effin' Royal Wedding. But it was the hot topic, so it got shoved down our throats. This particular fuel/oil topic is hitting everyone in the pocketbook now, so it's hot. Nobody is trying to offend, just blow off steam.

The near future holds EV promise again. Nissan has the Leaf out in production now, and you can actually own the car instead of just a lease. Ford's coming out with their own EV cars and enchanced hybrids. Drive electric first and then use the gas engine later, recharge at home and then repeat. If your trip to work is a short one, you don't use a drop of gas.

The biggest problem is so many things hinge on the price of fuel. When oil goes up, everything goes up. Priced tires lately? The pair on the back of my tractor that cost $300 10 years ago is now worth over a grand. Modern tractor tires (as opposed to my little 11.2-38's) are downright outragous.

I didn't want to hear a thing about the royal wedding either... but then after I heard about the warbird flyover I watched it for darn near an hour in hopes of seeing them before I had the brainy idea to look it up on youtube... :icon_idea:

If only there was a way to make clean electricity. Coal... well everybody knows what coal does, nuclear plants can go nuts and you have the waste to deal with, dams kill fish, windmills kill birds, are unsightly and picky about location and solar is both expensive and delicate.

The name's Steve, I live up in the NE with all the poor folks, I've got a '93 ext cab, 4.0/4x4.

As far as gas prices go, I'm a welder and I make frac trucks for a living. Oil and gas prices keep me (and everyone else) in a job around here so I make a point not to complain about the cost of gas. It's a small price to pay for the ability to earn a living. There are much worse places to buy gas than here in North America, and there are much better places as well. For the average joe gas is still affordable, it's just taking a bigger bite out of the "fun budget", which people generally don't like.

I would buy an EV if they were not priced out of the market, and big enough for 7 people.

what's your point? those are still terrible for the environment.

http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.php?Article_ID=14304

:icon_rofl::icon_rofl: I can't believe you actually believe that piece of crap. You realize that article has been laughed at all over the internet right? The whole thing is based off one huge ASSUMPTION that the Hummer will last 30 years and 300,000 miles :icon_surprised: and that the Prius only lasts 10 years and 120,000 miles....Umm, WHERE in the hell did they come up with those figures?? :icon_confused: If you adjust those figures to much more REALISTIC numbers, the Prius comes out WAAY ahead.

Oh, and about all the environmental damage from the nickel plant...
The Sudbury nickel mine plant has been mining nickel in that location since the 1800s (LONG before hybrids were even invented) and THAT'S when the environmental damage has occurred. They have since cleaned up their act and it is not nearly as detrimental to the environment.

Furthermore, Toyota buys a grand total of 0.5% of the nickel produced there. The rest is sold to other companies that have nothing to do with hybrid cars.

No doubt all I know is he is getting smokin ass milage and has a brand new car for 23,000. He passed his Ford Focus to his wife that drove an F-150 4x4 and they are saving big loot while sipping fuel. Seems to work for the green in their wallet and their yard.

Ford's Excrusion EV, as big as a tank, weighs just as much as one too. :D

still priced out of the market and no longer produced.

after not believing a Prius could be had for $24,000 I had to look it up. It is infact starting around $23800. We were going to get a Jetta but at that Price a Prius might be considered.... I still think Hybrid is an interim technology but untill the cruising range and infrastructure to make EV viable I might have to consider a Hybrid.

Thanks for pushing the truth. Your reped for that! +1! My wife has a prius hybrid, I learn something new everyday how that thing is better and better. Yea it has a carbon footprint, but it doesn't drain the wallet. It's expected that the batteries will go more than 12 years, for what she payed for it, I for one don't belive the bullshit $3.95 per mile over lifetime out there. And if that is true than it is far outweighed (emotionaly) by lower lifetime fuel consumption and how you feel on not burning so much of it.

But as for me I won't drive it. I like power, room for 7 people, work for an oil company and have a company truck.:) So what she saves I burn and it makes me proud!

i'm fairly sure that this is only a partial quote of my post, and my point was someone was complaining, when right next door there is a worse gas price situation, and the only reason i mentioned my cost for gas, is to put it into perspective that it's not all doom and gloom for you, not just to rant and rave about it

Griping is the way some people do this. I don't know exactly how your system works in Canada. But in the US, citizens get loud about issues that effect their lives in hopes their government representative will listen and move the message up the ladder until it gets to the appropriate party, person, or organization.

my question is this, how much does gas cost, comparitvely to the national yearly income (percentage) and how does that figure reflect the gas price from say 10 years ago? i'll bet it's a lot closer than everyone makes it seem like it is!

Nobody is trying to offend, just blow off steam

i know no one is trying to offend, it's just annoying to hear people who's national average of gas price is equal to 83cents a liter (3.17/gallon, 3.78 liters per gallon, and the dollars nearly at par) complaining, when there are people on this site, reading those posts, who live in the next country, are paying $1.23 a liter (national average is roughly $1.32/liter) canada's national average is nearly double the states' it's just annoying!

The biggest problem is so many things hinge on the price of fuel. When oil goes up, everything goes up. Priced tires lately? The pair on the back of my tractor that cost $300 10 years ago is now worth over a grand. Modern tractor tires (as opposed to my little 11.2-38's) are downright outragous.

again, i ask, how does that compare to a) the longevity of the tires, i bet the ones you are buying now last longer because of newer technology, or work better, and b) how does that compare to yearly income of a farmer?

I didn't want to hear a thing about the royal wedding either... but then after I heard about the warbird flyover I watched it for darn near an hour in hopes of seeing them before I had the brainy idea to look it up on youtube... :icon_idea:

i agree, f-bomb the royal wedding, i refused to watch it... in fact my recent fb status was "what's all this talk about will and kate, what ever happened to jon?"

If only there was a way to make clean electricity. Coal... well everybody knows what coal does, nuclear plants can go nuts and you have the waste to deal with, dams kill fish, windmills kill birds, are unsightly and picky about location and solar is both expensive and delicate.

canada (and especially british columbia [province]) are exceptionally devoted to the environment, and BC is powered i think 90% by hydro electric dams, they can be done without completely screwing with fish, it just takes some brains, though i am not an engineer, nor am i in the power industry, though a really good friend of mine just finished a job where he was the project manager for a hydro electric dam going in near the bc/alberta border, i'll ask him how it works...

i know the river that they dammed is a main salmon spawning run, so there is something for sure, to not screw with that

nice, well welcome to the site! it's always nice to see more canadians, and especially calgarians, i'm in mackenzie towne myself!
