aquward place to ask but would anyone know how to calculate the derivative of F(x)= (Sin(x)e^x) / x^4 ? ? ? ?

i know you need to apply the product rule to the numiator first then use the quotient rule afterwards but am getting tired and am runing outta resources for the night. maybe one of you is fimilar with the proscess?
hope so! lol
thanks! :icon_thumby:

The only way to deal with the exponent is to apply a logarithm to both sides of the equation (log(Fx) = log sin...)
Don't forget that log (x/y) = log x - log y

yeah but when you take the div. of e^x its just e^x... lol..
i suppose i could try using the natural log but what the *** to much for this late at night. LOL

i kinda got half way on it but then checked it on my calc. and it says the answer is

((e^x*cos(X))/x^4)+[(1/x^4)-(4/x^5)]*e^x*sin(X)

which is no where near where i was headed throgh the arythmatic. so im stumped. mite have to wait till tommrow i guess lol

Use the quotient rule first: Take derivative of top (using product rule) and multiply by bottom, subtracted by (top*derivative of bottom) divided by bottom squared.

yeah thats where i was headed with it. i think i gots it last nite th0u lol
thx tho

turns out i was dead on but my calculator over simplified it and i dident see it... lol.

and yeah that math and those numbers with thee addition and subtraction and angles and what not with the who how and all that jazz.! lol

BTW, I don't know if anyone said anything... but I believe the word in Your first post should have been awkward.

*I'm pretty good through algebra, but I proofread for a living.*

LOL, ok cheif ya caught me:icon_thumby: i openly admit i suck at spelling, reading and spelling never was for me at all... never enjoyed it... but as long as the jist of the word is communicated... thats good enough for me :icon_cheers:

ah dang... i miss calculus.

"you wouldn't know an asymptote from a hole in the graph!"
"i wish i was your derivative so i could lie tangent to your curves"
"calculus and alcohol don't mix... don't drink and derive!"

no problem lol...

hold on, let me post up some more.

took me a second to get this one when my math teacher showed me... but here it is

Q: did you hear the joke about the statistician?
A: probably!
