Cal state smog, after 4.0 swap?

i was hoping for some input about smog testing after the swap. i know the motor has to be newer than the original and from the same type of vehicle , but i want to know if anyone has swaped out a 2.3 for the 4.0 supercharged it and passed smog? is it possible or does the supercharger kill it , or help it ? whats the deal?
