I've got this cactus in the yard and I want to get rid of it. The cactus itself doesnt have needles but when we cut it down the juice or sap is what made me break out in hives and itch like crazy. So besides lighting it on fire how can I kill this thing?

Home depot sells painters suits that are full coveralls that are water proof they are like 15 bucks get one of those tape your wrists and ankles, slide gloves on and tape the joint and some high top boots and you should be good

Just put salt around the base of the plant and it will die within a few weeks...you would have to dig around the roots a bit to get the salt onto the roots...

Salt kills just about any plant...I know cacti are tough but I doubt they can handle a salt over load...

I think this is more specifically epsom salt (magnesium sulfate).

get some paint thinner, I know it sounds really bad for the earth but it's not nearly as bad as some of the things people have done

Diesel fuel and herbicide worked well on our 35 acres of mesquite when we cleared it out. We put it down and it annihilated that hardy stuff.

Soak it good and either let it die or just burn the hell out of it. That would be more fun anyway.

Worst case, once you're done burning the hell out of it pay 10 bucks to a neighborhood kid to rip it all down. This seems like a problem of 'lack of creativity'. It's a plant, Seymour, just kill it!

If you can't cut it down. And you don't want to burn it with fire. How about shooting it up. Take what ever cheap shooting ammo gun you have and shoot the base of it out. Unless of course you have neighbors, then yanking it out with pull strap might work.

round up brush killer I imagine would do it.

dad always cut plants off at the base and fed them a 5 gal. can of gas. of course that was years ago when gas wasn't as expensive as gold... just a thought tho..

Blasphemy! Jk we do the same but keep all the wood. We don't Q with anything less. We have rancher friends who we get plenty from...it's gold to us lol. But then again we bbq 3 times a week rofl.

If you break out in hives, DO NOT BURN IT, friend did that to a patch of poison ivy... and it got into his lungs, just about killed him.
