Well it "seems" as if its just the bushing area that has failed and allowed the bushings to pop right through. I guess I could get away with the old Tarus sub frame bushing washer fix but seems to me I will be doing a complete change sooner or later. I mean if its rusted that bad around the bushings to allow them to fall through chances are the entire bracket is a time bomb from rust. The rear hangers were simply held together with rust. Meaning they had rusted so bad they were nothing but layers of thin rusted metal. I would imagine the cab brackets are approaching the same fate.
So Ill probably end up as I said and fab a new set my self or pay a welding shop to do it.
Well shit.. I forgot all about a fella I work with. Hes a welder for a chain of bowling houses. ( also my supervisor in an unrelated field.. LCD TV repair LOL ! ). I bet I could get him to fab me up a pair. Then again he is kind'a dick'ish.
I have yet to check the front mounting brackets. I would assume they are approaching the same fate wait.... they are straight to the frame though right ?
Any way... I have to replace both rear cab mounts, both front leaf hangers (they are safe for now but I don't want to wait on them to fail. If the rears go you can drive home slowly. If the fronts go at speed or a good take off you could potentially have a serious accident. The torque transfers forward. If the fronts fail the axle could try to invert, rip out the shaft, and push the rear of the truck in the air. nasty business.) Rear stabilizer bolts and bushings, ball joints, and what I assume would have to bee front stabilizer bolts and bushings as it sounds like I have a latter rack under the front of my truck bouncing around over bumps. After that, it will be sound as a tank and pretty much a fully rebuilt frame. ( the frame is still sound as the day it was made so far as I can tell, but I have not checked very well for cracks around the old rivets or existing ones yet. not likely seeing as its a 2wd 4 banger but you never know.)
