hey there, new to the forum and i have soaked up lots n lots of great info!
what i have: 1985 ranger 2.8, FM146 5 speed, BW1350 tcase. standard cab
short bed....I plan on using this rig to trail ride and gather firewood ie pulling trees up or down hill sides out on to the trail, also i dont plan to go bigger than 31's.

i am lookin to swap in a 302 from a 82 bronco with a c-6 (using c-4 from salvage yard instead) and np208F.

now im a little confused on the adapter length. on the transmission id page in tech articles it shows the assembled 4wd length at 28.687 inches
then below it says adapter length of 11.5.

is that adapter length referring to the length of the advance adapter to use with a c-4?

thanks for any help.

The adapter is only if you use the ranger 1350 tcase. If you use the 208, you wont need the adapter...

Thanks SVT, yea not to sure which Tcase to use if i keep my 1350 i wont need to do any driveline work? if i use the 208 will it bolt right up to the c-4? im not to sure, if it will then heck yea that would save some $$..

Odds are, with either tcase choice, you'll still need driveshaft mods...

cool thanks for the info! turns out i found a guy that has a 4x4 5 speed out of a 1998 4.2 f-150. even better since the ranger is already a stick shift! bad part is its a 6 hour drive away.....

AK I JUST assembled this adapter this afternoon onto the C4 I just had rebuilt . The 29" measurement is the total length of an A4LD transmission. So a C4 transmission without the tail housing PLUS that 11.5" adapter length equals that 29".

You need to do the same with your FMX. Find the total length of the FMX. Then find what adapter (they make 3) that when added to the C4 will equal the length of your FMX.
