fresh c-4 had 1-2-d and reverse, pulled it for a leak (pump gasket)now no forward at all.....
somebody tell me this could be in the valve body...............

Odd problem. Are you quite sure it's at the correct fluid level, and that you've allowed it to prime the servos for several seconds to pump the air out of them?

put 7 qts in it.let the engine warm up to 190.
it doesnt slip in R and drops right in .

So put it into any forward drive gear and it'll just sit and smile...even if you let it sit for about 15 seconds? (which should be MORE then enough time for the servo/clutch actuators to prime)

yes.had to back it around the yard to park it...lol.should i pull the v-body and air check it?please tell me i dont have to pull this thing.
not going to mess with it today.....kinda tweaked my back sticking back in yesterday.
any input would be awesome!
thanks for your help!

Just for the heck of it i would put a couple more quarts of oil in it and see what happens.

not a bad idea...iam going to check the cable on my shifter also.......thanks!

full of juice and the cable seems to be working ok.................
any ideas?should i pull the pan?

It worked fine till you pulled the pump right...did you do anything else to the pump or components in trans.? You can pull the valve body and air check to see if drums work that will tell you if you broke a sealing ring for the forward drum.

worked fine, except for the leak lol.
didnt pull anything but the pump.i may have backed out one of the band adjustment bolts a little, cant remember as it sat on the bench for over a month before i could put it in the truck another month before i finished it up.
shop is the great outdoors at the mercy of tennessee winter.....lol.ill look up the tq. on the bands and recheck them.

again,thanks for the help all!

Bands dont have anything to do with going forward...except front band is second gear and rear band is reverse along with direct drum. I'm kinda wondering if maybe the sealing rings on the pump stator(the part that goes into the drums being first set of rings) got caught and broke..i have seen rings become unhooked and break. (not tobe a smart ass here) but it was a C4 pump gasket wasnt it??and you didnt get it in upside down ..because drums are feed thru the pump stator.

checked the gasket 3 times......lol..........its right.
going to drop the valve body thursday afternoon..........what should i look for (besides doing an air check)

thanks for the help bruce!

Just pulled the v-body and air checked........i must have screwed the seals on the pump up when i put it back in (you can hear alot of air and the clutch just faintly thumping)...........out comes the trans again.
