BW1154 planetay and front plate dissassembly

Figured it out.

The seal has to come off the input shaft side first and remove the snap ring that holds the input shaft into the bearing. Tapped the shaft out of the bearing with a soft hammer and all comes apart!

You dont need to remove the seal. You just have to release the big snap ring that holds the bearing into the front plate. See the 2 tabs between the gears in the 7 and 9 o'clock positions.... spread them apart and tap the assembly apart.

Once I got it apart, I could see that. Of course I am the 1 % that would have trouble with this. I had tried spreading the tabs and the bearing did start to slide out, but the ring did not release completely and the bearing twisted in the bore. Of course, everything stuck and as the operation is blind, I did not want to force things. Once I got the shaft out, I could see how the bearing was sitting and easily pressed it square. I was spreading the tabs with a pair of screwdrivers and I did not spread them fully. It would be one of those jobs where you need a third hand.

I just grab a pair of lock ring pliers and pop it apart.
