My credo
Cut to size, pound to fit, paint to match!
I’ve noticed somebody was already looking for one of these for a 1994 Ford Ranger with a BW 1354. My OEM shifter is worn out and binding. I saw that JK offers a cable shifter kit that may need fabrication but not sure if anyone offers a bolt on kit of has an OEM in good shape? I have a shop doing the work and I’m not is a position to do fab work and they won’t. It will have to be a bolt on replacement. Does anyone have a serviceable OEM one or know of a kit that’s a bolt on?

If it’s binding, it probably just out of adjustment or a bushing is worn out, and you can still get a replacement from ford.

On another note, wanna sell your old one? I can fab you a new one…..

Or you can modify a 13-50 shifter…..

The shifter is worn out. Most of the bushings are worn and it‘s not designed to be overhauled. I’m in an apartment and don’t have access to my shop tools in storage otherwise I’d probably be able to overhaul it myself. The shop that’s fixing it can’t (won’t) do the overhaul work. I’m talking to a shop that builds cable shifters and fabs all the brackets for a complete install. If they can provide a bolt on kit I’ll purchase it and post their info here. It’s going to be about $300 for everything If they can do it.

Ok….. but as I asked before, do you wanna sell your old one?

When I have a replacement in hand I’ll give it to you for shipping. If I can’t get a replacement I’ll need to have someone (maybe you?) refurb the one I have. Stay tuned.

Already said I could refurb or fab you up another, but I need yours to work with.

I already have a fab shop working on it. He jumped in first. If he gets the cable bracket done he will have a kit to offer anyone who needs one. I think the cable shifter may work better and once installed will probably be my last time to eff with it. And it might the solution to many other peoples needs. I’ll post his shop info here. If he can’t get it done I’ll be happy to hire you to help me out. If I don’t need the old shifter it’s yours to do what you want with.

Can you send me your contact information? I’ll pick the shifter up from the shop and send it your way. I should know in the next few days if the cable shifter is a go or not. If the cable shifter doesn’t pan out I can pay you to overhaul the shifter for me. If I don’t need it you can keep it. marv@grfs.net

I have a couple of solutions inbound. When I get the truck back together I may have parts available or a source for a bolt on cable kit. More to follow.

J&B custom fabrication www.jfab.net built the custom brackets to fit the BW 1354 with his cable shifter kit. Minor tweaking was needed but the kit worked great.
