id go with standard and metric swivel sockets.....they are lifesavers for sure.....cut a lot of time out of working on something

I have yet to run into a situation where I needed those, but I can see where they would come in handy.

i have my swivel sockets usually.... dang things are good for busted knuckles.

but at times they have been useful

Done that a few times with the extension swivels, it hurts.

Snap-on tools are awsome tools. But when they broke, it was a royal pain in my butt to get replacement. It got so bad that I just replaced broken tools with low-grade replacements. Later, I just got my own Craftsman tools for my own use rather a shared tool box. Much easier to get what I need and replace whats broken with Craftsman's.

When you are mechanic, tools become who you are. And you are only as good as the tools you have.

Yep thats what I said on page one, I'm glad i'm not the only one.

Crap? Yeah, right. You use the tools whenever you need to but at a dealership, tools are the life of the mechanic. They use them everyday, which Craftsman would not be able to hold up as long if used like that.
The only reason it takes a while to get the tools back and why the tool guys are pricks about it, is because they make no money on doing that. The drivers only drive a truck with the Snap-On name. They buy what they sell from Snap-On.

Craftsman is still a good brand for home use, but when you depend on tools everyday for a living, Snap-On or Matco. Something that comes on a truck is better than what is available to the public.

Crap Snap On tools break as bad as any other brand!!! It has been proven by every buddy I know who do use them and complain about it every day they use them....they even had to go out and buy Craftsman tools to complete a huge job (heavy line truck mechanic) due to a crap over priced Snap On tool breaking and they have to wait for a rep to come buy and look at the tool and then wait for a replacement...

:thefinger::thefinger::thefinger: Back at you, Bro!!

therre isnt a tool out there that wont break. anything is gonna break when you've a 12' piece of pipe slid over the end of a breaker bar. i've heard about snap-on being hard to get up with for replacements.

i've got 3 malls in a 5 mile radius of my house with a sears at them. break them all you want and all you need to do is go in and they'll hand you a new one. i rarely break them too. the last one i broke was from slipping it over an upper balljoint on my d35, using it as a punch. i hit the crap out of it wiht a bfh hammer and it split right down the side.

^ thats why craftsman is awesome, you can break their shit for the dumbest reason and they ask no questions, just hand you a new one. Personally for tinkering with the truck my Northern Tool brand sockets have surprised the mess out of me as far as strength but they do fit kinda loose.

I actually had a box of tools to be replaced by snap on. Wasn't a lot but several. Everytime i went to replace them i was told they were out of stock.. I finally got tired of waiting so I called their Memphis HQ and said I had a list of stuff I wanted to buy. So the lady said we will get it all together and get it to the shop
Tomorrow. Well in 30 mins I had 3 snap on trucks show up lol. The first guy handed me a box with all the tools in it and told me that'll be $320 or something like that. I reached around and grabbed my box Of broken tools and said paid in full. Thank you very much.

He wasn't happy....... Lol

But like I said earlier. Our sears does ask questions and their tools are NOT warrantied for professional use. Unless you buy the ones marked pro or something like that.

i just have a regular 150 piece or some shit like that. came with a 1/2", 3/8" and 1/4" ratchet and SAE and metric sockets for each. some jackass borrowed by 1/2" ratchet at some point and that's gone now. they dont ask me anything when i go in. if they did, i'd just make a huge fuss until they gave me what i wanted.

also, another good place to get tools is autozone. the duralast stuff (and some of the great neck shit-they're crappy stuff let me tell you) has a lifetime warranty on it. i got a set of metric deep impact sockets for $20 a few ago. lifetime warranty on them. i'm gonna abuse the crap out of them and make autozone give me new ones. (i used to work there, so i have some pent up agression lol)

thats ridiculous. our snap on guy literally comes right when you call and just takes the broken and gives you new....our Watertown, SD reps are insane with customer service

I dont know why you guys have problems with getting replacement Snap-On tools. I something brakes, I give it to Doug (my Snap-On Dealer). If he has it on his truck, he replaces it. If he doesnt have it on the truck, he orders it for next week. He will open sets to replace stuff. He will lend me suitable replacements until the right one comes in.

He is his own company and he will do whatever it takes to keep a good customer happy!

The Snap on truck is only a phone call away. If I need something on another day, I call him. He is here within 1 hour. Even if its just to replace something thats broken, not just for a new sale.

I work on forklifts and heavy equipment and I can tell you Craftsman will not hold up to what I do on a daily basis. Been there, tried that.
