Snap-on tools are awsome tools. But when they broke, it was a royal pain in my butt to get replacement. It got so bad that I just replaced broken tools with low-grade replacements. Later, I just got my own Craftsman tools for my own use rather a shared tool box. Much easier to get what I need and replace whats broken with Craftsman's.
When you are mechanic, tools become who you are. And you are only as good as the tools you have.
Crap? Yeah, right. You use the tools whenever you need to but at a dealership, tools are the life of the mechanic. They use them everyday, which Craftsman would not be able to hold up as long if used like that.
The only reason it takes a while to get the tools back and why the tool guys are pricks about it, is because they make no money on doing that. The drivers only drive a truck with the Snap-On name. They buy what they sell from Snap-On.
Craftsman is still a good brand for home use, but when you depend on tools everyday for a living, Snap-On or Matco. Something that comes on a truck is better than what is available to the public.
But like I said earlier. Our sears does ask questions and their tools are NOT warrantied for professional use. Unless you buy the ones marked pro or something like that.
i have my swivel sockets usually.... dang things are good for busted knuckles.
but at times they have been useful
Crap Snap On tools break as bad as any other brand!!! It has been proven by every buddy I know who do use them and complain about it every day they use them....they even had to go out and buy Craftsman tools to complete a huge job (heavy line truck mechanic) due to a crap over priced Snap On tool breaking and they have to wait for a rep to come buy and look at the tool and then wait for a replacement...
Back at you, Bro!!
I dont know why you guys have problems with getting replacement Snap-On tools. I something brakes, I give it to Doug (my Snap-On Dealer). If he has it on his truck, he replaces it. If he doesnt have it on the truck, he orders it for next week. He will open sets to replace stuff. He will lend me suitable replacements until the right one comes in.
He is his own company and he will do whatever it takes to keep a good customer happy!
The Snap on truck is only a phone call away. If I need something on another day, I call him. He is here within 1 hour. Even if its just to replace something thats broken, not just for a new sale.
I work on forklifts and heavy equipment and I can tell you Craftsman will not hold up to what I do on a daily basis. Been there, tried that.
