Buying my first ranger, question about high mileage chassis.

That's not too bad at all! I've seen a lot worse. If the frame and underside aren't rotted to bits it should be a good little ride!

That's what I thought too. Especially for a $700 or less truck. I'm ready to be back in one. I miss my old 4x4 f150 and Nissan 4x4. Those are also the reason I'm buying a 2x4 this time. I tend to break things quite a bit when I off road lol.

Picked up a actron pocket scan today and ran the codes. Got nothing with the engine off so I started it to see if anything showed up since the cel was still lit. The only code that showed up was p0340. Cam position sensor explains why it runs horrible. How hard/expensive is that to replace?

Changing the sensor isn't the easiest thing. bout as hard as doing a timing belt, which you might as well do while you're in there. You'll need to take the timing belt cover and crank pulley off to get to the sensor. you'll see it's attached with 2 small bolts. some people insist on using the alignment tool when installing the new one. I personally didnt use one and haven't had troubles but that may be just luck.

Anyways if you dont have access to the tool you can use something like a buisness card or feeler guages when installing the new sensor to make sure it has an even gap on both sides. Once you start getting into it you'll understand what i mean. good luck.

Cost : based on my stores napa price on a 95 , looks like 39 or 54 dollars, no idea which is the one you need though.

I priced everything and it should be around $75 for the belt and sensor. The one from auto zone has a sticker that says non adjustable. Do I still need the tool for it?

no idea, i'd wait for someone who has a 2.3 and has done it before to chip in their knowledge!
