Buying another Ranger Need advice.

Looking at a 1987 4x4 5 speed manual trans with a 2.3 showing 139,000. One owner bought new in 1987. been repainted owner says it wasn't wrecked. drives good no visible oil leaks asking $1800.00
Are these year models good ones? ,any issues? Also the blinkers do not work I hope this is a fuse matter If not where should I start to repair the blinkers. Thanks

check the leaf spring hangers for rust and thin spots. also check the front coil spring buckets for rust as these are prone to hold mud and rot out from the back side. one last thing that can shut you down quick is the transmission cross member. the knuckles of them rust out on these models and are expensive to replace and hard to remove when heavily rusted. im not sure where youre from but being from michigan these are the parts that stick out most in my mind.

Thanks for your reply. This is a North Georgia truck so the rust may not be a problem like in your state,but I will crawl under and look,thanks again.
