While I have no doubt about the ruggedness of the basic Ranger, I am seeking feedback about the 4x4 deluxe versions. My son is looking at a one owner '03 Scab, 4.0 auto 4x4 w/80k mi. These 4.0 SOHC/5spd autos makes for a great running drivetrain with good get up and go, however what should I be looking out for in terms of areas of concern?

Thanks In Advance!

I agree with the "everything" comment....but that is why i was asking the price if the price is $200 buy the truck and worry abut the "everything" later if the price is $13,000 worry about the "everything" before you buy it .........the price of the truck is "everything"

Take the truck to a shop of your choice and have them inspect it with a fine tooth comb before you buy it! NEVER take the dealers/sellers word for it!

I would look it over very closely. I know this will get me some shit here, but buying a used Ranger can be alot like marrying a prostitute. It looks good, but is used and abused. And everything is looser than it should be.

With only 80k miles I dont htink it will be as bad as yall make it out to be. My stang had 80k when I lost it and it was tighter than a ticks ass. I think it would be a good deal, however I would try to talk him into the nines and pay it off asap.

Went with the '01

The '01 Edge had a complete Carfax history, 2 year 100k warrenty, 39k mi. It was also better equipped than the '03. No dings, a few scratches and a typically rusty (surface) Ranger frame. Offered $10k ended up setteling on $10.5k. I am sure it will serve my kid well!
