Buying a crossbow

Wow, getting heavy.

I have been told by my father thats into archery that some of the newer compound bows can get just as much speed with a lighter pull weight as the older ones with the real heavy weight.

I don’t know a whole lot about archery, but he was saying a new compound bow set 40lbs can hit almost as hard and the old 70lbs one.

There have certainly been advancements with archery gear since my last bow purchase. So I guess that could be a possibility. I even backed off the poundage on my Hoyt last year... I didn't put it on a bow scale but my guess is it is right at 50 lbs. It's still a pretty good pull and honestly I even struggle with it at that weight. It seems my aches and pains are amplified in cold weather... I just fear when the moment of truth arrives... my old joints aren't going to let me seal the deal.

Also the use of a crossbow is legal the entire archery season in Michigan... if it were a week or two season... I would probably not be considering a crossbow.

If I do anything with a bow in the future... it will most likely be in a traditional path. Stick and string... probably a long bow. Just go totally old school.
