I'm planning to payoff my 04 one year early this summer. I'm hoping to qualify for a new Ranger.
#1 choice new supercab 2.3 5 speed manual with a.c.
#2 choice new regular cab longbed 2.3 5 speed manual with a.c. through a fleet dealer.
Does anyone know the last month they will be made? Can anyone guess when the dealers will start to mark them down and how much?

I doubt the Ranger will get marked down any more than everything else around. Sure, its going out of production, but I think that will, if anything, ramp up interest in them for a short time.

Personally, I would go for a 4.0 4x4, but I drive a little Volkswagen for a daily driver.

Why buy a 4 cyl, Bro? Get a V6 and enjoy the power when you need to haul or tow. If you are thinking gas milage... why buy a truck at all...get a a small car that gets 36+ mpg. My lifted 99 Ranger gets over 22mpg at 70 mph when I haul stuff. I get 300 miles on a fill up and still have just over a 1/4 tank at fill up.

Well since I deliver pizza I would spend $1200 more a year in gas if I got a V6 and/or 4x4. And since I'm 6' tall I have trouble with my knees when I have to get in and out of a car 30 times a day. I tinker with mowers on the side for extra income. I've never seen a car that can haul a 700 pound riding mower. And my landlord won't let me park a trailer where I live. So it WILL be a 2.3 Ranger I will be buying.

And you could save another $1200 a year not driving a pickup for pizza delivery. lol
I drive a 95 VW Golf that cost a whooping $650 to buy, and gets 35+ mpg doing pizza delivery... I used to own a Jeep Cherokee with the 2.5l 4banger, and it cost me twice as much in gas. The money I have saved on gas driving the Volkswagen has allowed me to buy an old B2 to build and beat on, and continues to save me at least $100 each month. I see you have specific reasons dictating your needs, but trying to have one vehicle do double duty as a work truck hauling mowers and pizza delivery vehicle is quite the task

Are you planning on selling/trading in the 2004?

My Subaru Brat hauled my bikes around with out any problems....got 38 mpg at 80 mph on the highway. Easy to get in and out of and I am 6' 2". I am a disabled vet with shrapnel wounds in my lower lumbar and I got shot in the right ankle and the left knee and had knee surgery. There are a lot of cars and SUVs out there that sit high enough for you, Bro. My 2010 Rouge is easy to get in and out of and it has plenty of head room and I can put my kayak in the back and take it to the park. It get 40 mpg. I gas it up at 450 miles and have some gas in the tank still.

tha man wants a Ranger!! damnit!

lol...ya.....but a 4 cylinder? Any of my buddies who bought a 4 cylinder Ranger were crying a year later...that wanted it gone and then got shafted when they went to trade it in for a V6 Ranger. But when thay got the V6 there were so happy with it and never looked back.

I"m keeping my 04 2.3 5 speed manual longbed as a backup vehicle in case I lose my job and can't keep making payments on the next Ranger. In the late 90s I had 86 and 88 Dodge Colts and used them to deliver pizza. At the end of the night my knees would be very sore. I just don't have very good knees. I am 6' tall and have long leggs. My pants are 34 leg/35 waist. For the 4 cylinder bashers are you talking about the Mazda 2.3 installed in 2001-1/2 and newer or the old German design 2.3/2.5 (dog of an engine) installed up through the first half of 2001? The Mazda 2.3 has a lot more power than the German 2.3/2.5. A V6 Ranger would get the same mileage as a half ton truck with a 6 cylinder.
