I'm in Canada, and thinking about buying a 2008 Ranger. I've done a good amount of shopping around for a small truck and the Ranger seems to fit the bill in almost every way.

With that said, I have some questions mostly concerning options that might be a dealer-rip off:

- Is "Privacy glass" worth $130? Vs., getting the windows tinted elsewhere?

- Is the "rear slider window" worth $200 vs. buying a used one?

- Since I'll be getting a canopy for sure, and a supercab, will the rear slider window be useful to get some quick, albeit quite limited, access to the box?

- Is cruise control something I can get installed later and possibly without tilt steering? I don't think I need the tilt steering, but cruise would be nice. I'm not sure it's worth $530. Also, why do they come together?

-Do bed/tail liners from previous models fit in the 2008 Ranger?

Ford is bundling options:

Rear sliding window forces privacy glass

Tilt wheel forces cruise

Power windows forces power mirrors and power locks.

All of these are also vice versa.

It has been the way of the deals for several years.

If you want you must also get....sucks but they are in the drivers seat.

I have seen some real bad after market tints so I would have them do it (that or don't cheap out), I love my sliding window not for bed access but for ventilation, and after market cruise seem to be notoriously bad (from what I gather).

It would all be worth it to me, if the window tint starts peeling, window starts leaking, or the cruise doesn't work you take it back to the dealer knowing you don't have the slightest risk of them denying to warrentee anything because you tinkered with it.

The only practical application I have found for my slider window aside from ventalation is being able to throw pop cans on the back while on the move. I don't have a topper, but your range of reach is so small I don't think you could get to much in the bed.

I would at least go for the rear slider window; personally I'm not a big fan of cruise control...just my belief. How old a bed liner are we talking?

Thanks for the answers. I think I'll stick with the Ford options.

Well to tint the windows in my area, would cost me $200. So i would say thats a good deal. And For $200 extra on a truck thats going to cost 16 000 already is nothing for the sliding window. In my opinion its not worth messing around, have them do it right from the get go. Then you also wont have issues with warrenty and/or water leaks after.

well i will say that if you have a rear slider on your truck and a slider window on your canopy (i assume a canopy is a truck cap?) then it can be sorta useful. i've had to reach through it a few times when my dad and i are positioning stuff in the truck bed. plus the ventilation from it is great.

If you got all of the options listed it would only raise the payment over 60 months to about $15 more a month, and on a 36 month loan it would only be a little over $20 a month. That seems worth it to me.
