I just bought an 09 Ranger and would like to better protect the paint from stones and sand being tossed up by the tires.

Bushwacker makes 3 fender flares for the Ranger.

1 the OE which extends the fender by 3/4"

2 the fender extender which extens the fender by 2'

3 the cut out which extends the fender by 4"

Which would you recommend for an XLT with stock 15" wheels?

What is you experience with them?

I'm not sure about the first two, but unless you are up for hacking up your fenders (on an 09, I would assume not), the 3rd option would be out of the question. The cut outs are for when you take a sawzall to the wheel openings to clear larger tires with a smaller lift.

Depending on how much your tires stick out, would determine which flares you need. If you have stock wheels and tires, there is no need at all for flares, other than looks. Flares only protect things if the tires stick out past the fender/ side of the truck. In which case you would need a flare that sticks out as far as the tires do.
