building sliders

i dug up some sched 40 pipe for mine... found it in our shop and figured what the heck, i'll use it, and i've got one kinda put together right now.

I went with schedule 80 pipe. I have hammered the pee out of them with no visible damage aside from the scratches you would expect. I have slid on them, bounced them off of very large rocks and landed on them many, many times. They cost about half what you would spend on tube. A little heavier... But not much.

For non-critical members such as sliders and/or bumpers, I fail to see the importance for the designation between tube/pipe. It sounds to me like there are many people just repeating what they've read or been told on other forums....

tube vs pipe is important when bending and trying to find a correcty fitting die set

You are missing my point. I'm referring to the difference in terms of structural/non-critical applications. You obviously want to use a pipe die to bend pipe, and a tube die to bend tube. That should go without saying.

i kno that u kno that but does the home builder kno that when he has pipe to bend but all his local shops only carry tube dies on the bender and hes like **** all that waisted $ on the wrong stuff
