2.3L ('83-'97) Building one bad 2.3 Lima

Source for the head? Asking for a friend....

Why the 0.050 mill? Most stang guys i see recommend 0.060

And camshaft source and grind? I still have the 767 (or 676, cant remember) cam here, but mildly afraid to try it as its not a roller cam...

ProMaxx Performance Head FOR463NB, listed as a stock factory replacement, but it has a thicker deck and improved ports.
Check Summit and Jegs - they will fight over it! Price match!
Mine was <$270 delivered.

.050" came out to 10:1 compression based off MY chamber cc's, deck height, head gasket (compressed), and piston "dish", YMMV.
Pump gas is a must for my build.

Head weighs 60lbs STRIPPED. Factor in disassembly, hot tank, magnaflux and shopping - the new casting was cheaper, for me.

Cam - custom grind. That is between you and your ECU/wants/needs/desires. I need high lift, slightly longer duration with a specific LSA.
If you want "Rumpity" you are looking at potential SMOG issues, increased build cost, increased build complexity, reduced effective compression, and lots of tuning.

On the plus side: RPMs! and "Bockity, Bockity, Bockity".

By dropping from 8,000RPM build to 6,500RPMs (V8 Foxbody Tach "yellow" zone, 7k maximum) I saved a LOT of time, money and effort. Be realistic.

Ford did not make a factory roller cam that will make any real HP. Look to the aftermarket. "767" is a "Slider" cam from a pre-90's Mustang - better off advancing a Ranger Roller cam to "straight up", it is the same specs.
