Building a rally car. Opinions wanted.

So what's on the parts list??

Well, quite a few things.

For the chassis I'm going to get some springs from a diesel Chevette to better support the weight of the V6. For the rear I found some load leveller coilovers.

Then powertrain components. I need to find a shifter for the 5 spd. The engine had about 300K on it so it's going to get new rings and probably a cam set. Going to hone the cylinders as well. Then it's an intake manifold, carb and distributor away. Exhaust stuff will come later, for now I have stock manifolds to get it running.

Seats and interior stuff are still a little ways off, working as funds allow.

We did some things, planned out some chassis stuff and pulled the air dam off the front. Mike has more pics whenever he posts them haha

Well crew rally car work is on a bit of a hiatus. Need to get parts coming in but need to build up some funds first. Making the shopping list and realizing I need a lot for this thing. I also decided I have too many damn cars so I need to trim back. Between the Ranger, Jetta, Super Duty and Acadian it's a little nuts.

But don't worry, the Ranger is here to stay and the rally car is my new baby. Working on getting the F-250 sold to make sure I got all my ducks in a row. Maybe throw a new trans at the Ranger if that happens. Sucks since I just bought it but you got to do what you got to do.

Tomorrow we are going to keep doing some teardown work. Lots of free/cheap stuff to do on it anyways.

Cheers crew.

What are you getting for graphix, front lighting, and suspension?

We have 4 cheapo driving lights for it, it's getting diesel chevette front springs and Monroe load leveler shocks in the rear. Not sure what mike has planned for graphics

Just to elaborate on what Ben said, I bought 4 Navigator Halogen "low-profile" driving lights to mount on the bumper. I've also got a Vision-X kit to convert the sealed beans to crystal cut housings. They run an H4 bulb which I got some Vision-X performance bulbs for.

The diesel springs are something recommended to carry the extra weight of a motor swap. The load levellers in the back are triangulated mounts from the body to axle so it should reduce lateral axle movement in the corners while retaining stance and reducing squat.

As for the decals, well that's going to be a bit of a surprise.

Did some more things tonight, we took out the stereo, seatbelts, and hit the battery tray with various tools. Also mike broke the rad shroud.

Mike has more updates also.

Got a little more pics and things for you crew, not a heck of a lot getting done until parts come in.

Here's a slightly revised version of the checklist.

Not much else to say. Need to order up some parts soon. Stay tuned!

Not much is happening on the car, got some parts on order. Waiting on some stuff to happen before I get all the motor stuff. Updates will be few and far between for a bit, but the project is in no way abandoned!
