We're only at -10 and still only a little skiff of know on the ground. It's super weird how mild it's been.

So we got a crazy amount of stuff done on the Acadian today, cue the music! :headbang:

First and foremost I found a killer spot to mount my start switch

Next we mocked up the cheapo driving lights I bought, they are going to be wired on two switches (inside and outside) on the panel below the light knob you can see in the picture above.

Today our mission was to continue tearing down the car and see if we could find out where the con-rod punched it's was out the block. We were fairly certain the block was borked because the pan looked fine and it didn't pour oil out unless we tried to run it. It ran like a champ on three cylinders too.

Here we go!

Looks like a whole different car, like something you'd see poking out of some crazy mechanic's garage in Sweden or Japan.

We finally got the engine basically stripped down to nothing. Still couldn't see any damage though.

That was until we pulled off the starter. Can you see it?

There it is! I must say that starter held up amazingly considering the punch it must have taken.

So it's safe to say we are going with the V6 because that engine is NFG.

LOL. I've driven a few cars that sound like that. Not very far tho.

I love rally cars, I wish I still had my subaru.

Changed my signature to suit the current project that will be occupying my time. And to bring some of the people back :D

Wrenches will be turning tomorrow.

It's a dark blue/green that looks pretty good in person. Aside from a few rough edges and surface rust the body is in really good shape. I was thinking of giving it a good cleaning and maybe a quick polish even to see if some luster can be brought back into the paint.

After that it's going to get the de rigueur rally decal treatment. Names on the windows with a flag, a sponsor box, my racing number and a race team name. That's pretty much all I have in mind at the moment. Nothing too fancy.

*edit* Maybe some stripes, too :D
Just gonna quote this since you keep trying to deny that it's blue :icon_bounceblue:

Big things happened tonight crew, big things. We wanted to get the engine out. So we plugged away at it. Success was had, but we demolished the heater box on the way out. So looks like I'm going to fiberglass it up, don't imagine one of those will be easy to find.

First off, here is our current parts pile.

Had to cut the exhaust off, safety first mothertruckers!

Had a few last things to disconnect to get ready to pull the engine, the snipe had to come out for the tranny mount.

Ready to pull!

On the way, last few cables and things being undone.

Car kicked outside, got to clean the shop up a bit. Gear oil all over the place from the powertrain being tilted.

Going to do some CSI on the old engine. Not going to cram the 2.8 in just yet, we want to see what caused the old engine to go KA-BLOO-EE.

Probably happening next week.

Still chapped about the heater box :annoyed: Hopefully I can just glass it up from the outside. All the internals look fine.

So I found my "NOS FOR TEH HORSE POWAZ" windshield banner. It was an old running joke with Jay FX4 back in the day. Figured it would look good on the Acadian.
