building 2.5 98 2wd, were to start?

got a nice 98 ranger that has 180000 an i ve had it since iwas 16 n wasnt exactly drivn like my daisy with it then but shes hold up pretty nice now im taking care of her, but shes usking a little oil an transmission humms round 60mph

i love my ranger but it is a turd an i hear youy can get decent power out of them in the aftermarkt and i would rather sing a cupple grrand into a fresh motor a tranny than get a new car

i guess my question is while i have this spare motor what should i buy at first to have a good start for it when i drop it in? and keep in mind i do not intend on turbo, maybe small nitrous boost down the line

i juss need to know where to start

ive heard bout beefing up the bottom end and forged internals exaust headers stuff like that

a shopping list would be much appreciated

jus drop a 4.0 with a manual tranny in there and boom! over 200 hp!!!

if you want to build a 2.5l (which i dont really see the point of), then the only way you will see a decent increase in power would be turbo'd with forged internals and a solid tune.

the point is good milage v6's rangers is like driving f150 milage wis so i like the ideal
