Does anyone know where to get a buildable ignition lock cylinder for a 1st gen?

The lock and keys for my B2 are about shot and so I'd really like to re-key it to match the Ranger. Been looking all over and haven't found one yet.

How about a scrapyard? Just get one there with the keys. Would that work out? Can't get a new one from your dealership?

Probably discontinued. But can you get the right tumblers for it from your dealership? Most cyclinders are able to get retumbled, even if they say they aren't..... as long as you can get the tumblers. Or you can just remove a few of the worn tumblers and cut the key by depth code which you still should be able to manually measure

We can't get the locks new, and the OEM ones weren't usually made to be custom keyed like the newer ones are. I could go through the junk yard looking for a lock that my Ranger keys turn though.

As for taking an old one apart, I think these are setup so that once they are put together you can't take them apart again.

That's the way chrysler ones are, but they can be taken apart. Its friggin tricky, but doable with two small screw drivers a larger one and having 5 extra hands, lol. See if you can get one from autozone and see if it can be taken apart.
