BS facts people will tell you about their used vehicle for sale.

My favorite line from a dealership salesman has got to be "its a single owner car, she was an elderly woman that only drove it to church and the grocery store every sunday"

Show me the carfax mr "single owner"

On a side note neither my grandmother (drives a buick something or other) nor my great grandmother of 94 (drives a bug) "only drive to church and the grocery store on sunday." in fact my great grandmother only recently sold her harley when her grandkids had a sit down with her about her age and her risky lifestyle.

Another one is when they put the sticker on the window that its been serviced tuned up and inspected (usually yesterday) and when you check the oil its blacker than black or theres some other obvious sign of a lack of maintenance like a puddle of mystery fluid under it.

Sorry about the lack of punctuation and the spelling, i'm running on E

And you verified everything this salesman says was untrue?? Most police cars do have upgraded suspensions.

I know the difference between upgraded and fully modified from what cops typically have. This guy was spewing BS, and I googled the hell out of it to make sure.

I do know that one of my buddies is a retired FBI agent and he had a retired car from the motor pool. I drove that car a few times and I was really impressed with it. Ii did have a modified suspension on it as I loved the way the car took corners and handled like it was on rails. The performance of the motor was incredible!!! But...how would anybody know that car you saw was a former FBI car buy just looking at it? IDK. But the car I drove was wicked. Did you look under the car to see what the A arms looked like? I never looked under my buddies car. He had that car for about 10 years and sold it for more money then I would have paid for it!!!

I'm not doubting that it may have been used by the FBI, but it certainly did NOT have a DOHC, and the suspension story became a longer and longer thread of lies pulled from a sweater of mistruth the longer I listened. I didn't crawl under it because that parking lot is dirty as hell and I just had a shower.

Like I said though, the car WAS in excellent shape, and drove magnificently. If I had the cash, I'd buy it despite the guy insulting my intelligence.

Thats not bs, thats just a guy having fun with an idiot that knows nothing about cars. Probably wasn't even his mustang. Honda VTEC in a Ford, what a riot, I'm still laughing.

Edit: watched it to the end. It was staged. Hahaha!
+rep to you for posting that, I'll be laughing about the gatoraid injection for a while.

I once bought a car because the salesman told me it used to be owned by Jon Voight.

Title came back and it was actually owned by John Voight. :annoyed:

I went with my buddy to look at a firebird formula that he fell in love with (bad idea) after I killed his honda (interesting story) they told him its was a 94 and had a build 350 and it ran like a top handled great and a load more garbage that he bought hook line and sinker. I pop the hood saw a bone stock 91 tpi 305 and on the test drive was the only rwd car Ive seen that had UNDERSTEER it was as useless as a brick in a corner and about one day later the engine died at 55 it stopped getting fuel never did find the problem after checking everything and tearing it down when he sold it he fed the next guy the same line of crap

I dont get why people bs you on when selling a car cuz I mean come on those lies could get someone killed

Most rwd cars have understeer. Especially our budget american models. I am guessing you meant oversteer?

Hello

My brothernlaw had a full size Bronco. He ran it out of oil and filled it up with fresh new stuff. Fuel pump went and he sold it to a buddy. I saw the add online and it said rust out but with rebuilt motor but needs fuel pump. Some one bought it and 3 months later we saw it in a pick and pull. Its amazing what people will belive when buying a used car. At least when I sold my T-Bird I told them the odomer was change and it read 50000 less km then original and it had all mustang parts on which the guy checked part numbers to verify. Dam I miss that car.

igiveup

When I sold my Ranger (HORRIBLE mistake, but not all my fault) I was straight up about everything. Ran good, brakes were good, new fuel pump and battery, I even told them it needed dash light bulbs, had a coolant leak, and probably needed a blinker bulb or possibley a relay.

A guy at work (who clams to be a car guy) was telling me that the Lexus RX350 (3.5L DOHC V6) we got on trade had the same motor as a Subaru Outback (3.6L H6). I looked at the guy standing next to me and we both decided that it wasn't even worth arguing over. I probably would have gotten fired for yelling at him for his stupidity.

Haha just remembered this one - I saw an ad on Craigslist for a '92 Ranger XL 2.3L 2WD. Funny part was that the ad said it was fully loaded with every factory option. Low and behold the pictures revealed that it had manual locks, windows, no a/c, 2WD, 5 speed manual and single cab with a 6ft bed. Needless to say, i didn't call him

i still think one of the best ones is "it needs... but i wouldnt be afraid to drive this vehicle across the country."
