Anyone ever replace a trans cooler line on a Boo-ick Reek-all?

This car belongs to a co-worker and I'm working on it for free because I'm just a nice guy, but I'm not sure where the line goes into the trans, or how either end disconnects.

Anyone ever do this?

yes but it can be aggrevating because of the quick connects.. Is it the hose leaking, or the connector?

It's a low pressure line, just use a length of appropriate sized fuel hose and a couple of clamps.

if the hose is leaking yes it's not a big deal and some hose will fix it, if it's the quick connect on the trans, he'll need a new one.

Its the lower cooler line. The rubber section in the middle has burst.

I got a new line from napa, but it wasn't quite what I was expecting. What I ended up with was a compression fitting piece that runs to an open-ended piece of rubber hosing. I'm not quite sure how I'm gonna get it all to fit in and work just yet.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

If the hose has burst you can fix it rather easily. Get a good cutting tool like a die grinder, the metal clamps that hold the hose to the steel line, you want to cut into the just enough to split the metal clamp in two, then you can remove them, pull the hose off, get new hose, and clamp it on with regular hose clamps... it's easy, just don't cut too deep or you will ruin the steel line and have to replace it all.

The reason I didn't want to try that originally because that's how the last guy tried it and it still leaked. Then I took it apart.

1st off the moron used a piece of straight tube on it, so it wasn't sealing right.

2nd, the end of the one hose was stretched out.

I took it apart, got a new piece of patch line and a barbed union. I cut the stretched out line back 1/2 inch and then put it all back together. Looks good now.
