So i bought my bronco ii for 300 bucks. Everything seemed to be fine besides the fact had bad gas in it since it had been sitting for 10 years. Got it started drove it, well flexplate shattered. Alright droped the A4LD replaced torque converter and flex plate. Start back up everything fine except it wanted to stall while in drive only. Flushed tranny, radiator, changed oil and fuel filter. Took for a drive...ran but would not accelerate in 2nd or 3rd. So i dropped the fuel tank flushed all old gas and put new gas in...took for a drive, same thing still happening. Only this time it wouldn't make it back to the house...it stalled out and now won't start. I'm assuming dirty or clogged fuel lines? Possibly spark plugs and fuel injectors too? Also forgot to mention i had replaced the starter, the bronco had a new starter solenoid put on it in 2001 so i figured that was still good. When i was trying to get it started after it stalled i let off the key after cranking it over and it kept cranking so i disconnected the negative cable...well now i can't even connect it without the thing arching it still wants to keep cranking? Im assuming the solenoid is fried?! Any help very much appreciated.

try tapping the solenoid with a screw driver, and check that the wires are not loose, and shorting. check timing, and air filter.

I'm impressed that it ran after sitting for ten years.

I'd be willing to bet that the tranny is bad. Auto trannys don't do well sitting for long periods of time.

I'd look at replacing it with a manual.Thats just me.

Vehicles that have been sitting are always a project to get going again. Have you checked for codes, might have a couple bad sensors. Also did you make sure the tv cable was adjusted properly on the trans? As long as the fluid was clean and up to its level the tranny should be fine, the valve body may need a cleaning though. I have run transmissions that have beeen sitting over 40 years with no trouble.

Have you tried disconnecting the ignition wire from the solenoid? Could be a bad ignition switch.

tv cable? Fluid was fairly clean...i believe its the original transmission and it didn't have much shavings in it, new trans fluid filter was added. I haven't checked the air filter which i should. I'll try tapping on the starting solenoid to see if its free's up.
