Bronco II Rear Driveshafts

I have an 86 bronco ii, it has the CV axle styled rear drive shaft in the rear, I have noticed that it is started to get play and grinding is happening under torsion. from what i have gathered, is that they don't make these replacements anymore but you have to buy a whole new drive shaft with ujoints, this you can get from a parts house, but the cost is over 200 dollars. I have been told by some that you can use driveshafts off of rangers and explorer's, I would much rather do this and get one at a junkyard. but what vehicles would bolt up, or what vehicles would match up? thoughts?

You need a front drive shaft off of a 90s Ranger or Explorer. Then it needs shortened a bit if you have one of the longer transmissions (for your year the auto trans was the only long one).

Sounds great I'll look into that, it is the 5 speed manual. If then it wouldn't need to be shortened?

Yeah, the TK5 and FM145 transmissions are shorter than the A4LD and M5OD by almost exactly the same distance as the drive shaft would need shortened for the longer transmissions.

Now this is all assuming you keep the double-cardan joint on the one end. If you use it with a single the way the one write-up shows then it may be too short.
