Just joined acouple weeks ago put up a picture of my bronco ii just bought...had to replace the flexplate and while i had the tranny out replaced the torque converter. Put the tranny back in and got it all connected. Started right up let it warm up and checked tranny fluid, filled as needed and then decided to back it up off the ramps. Reverse worked perfect...good sign. Then decided to put it into drive, well the engine started to stall then it felt like the car wanted to jump, it kept repeating stall and jump stall and jump and i felt like i could barely hold it with the brakes. So i gave the car some gas and it seemed fine. I'm not sure if it shifted as i didn't want to drive that fast in it. So i parked it and turned off. I tried reverse and it worked fine again. OD,D,3,2,1 all do the stall and jump thing. I'm not sure why!? If anybody has any info on why it might be doing this please let me know. I read a couple full size bronco forus where guys had this problem they said the manual lever position senor on the transmission was the problem...i just hope the transmission isn't bad...i would think if its fine in reverse it should be fine in drive? HELPPPPPPP

Wait, you filled the trans with the vehicle on ramps?

You can't do that and probably have it very overfilled. The vehicle needs to be level.

I had ramps under the back tires too. What are the chances it could be a sensor or wiring?

Well then, as this is not a strictly Bronco 2 related issue (as it could happen to any RBV with the same trans) go ask in the transmissions area. You are likely to get more helpful replies.

did you fill the tourque converter with fluid before installing sounds like it has air in the converter.

no i didn't...i figured the pump would fill it up while i let it warm up in park/nuetral? If it is working fine in reverse wouldn't that mean the torque converter is fine. I'm going to drain all the fluids including oil and anti freeze and flush everything hopefully that helps. If not i'm thinking the foward clutches are shot? What do you guys think?
