I recently received an email from someone describing a Bronco II that they came across a few years ago. No photos. No other info.

I was looking at your web site today and I noticed you wanted to be e-mailed about diferent versions of broncos so I thought I would let you know about one I came across a few years back when I was looking for parts for my '85.

It was called a Bronco II Esprit. It was I believe '84 to '86 due to the fact it had the 2.8L carburated motor and was 4WD even though it had molded front air dam(w/driving lights) fender flares and running boards.

It had ESPRIT in 4 or 5 inch letters on the lower part of the door in striping. Along with the ground effects it also had a sun viser, adjustable roof rack and mag rims.

The inside was like any Eddie Bauer XLT version. Electric everything, woodgrain dash, upgraded seat upholstery with ESPRIT stitched in the head rest of the high back bucket seats, center console and tinted windows. It also had an overhead console that held the stereo and stretched all the way to the back. It branched out to the sides directly behind the front seats and at the very back. At the ends of each branch it had a 4 inch speaker(4 total). It had several other nicety's like in the back it had lockable storage box's on the sides and if I'm not mistaken it had a split sun roof to accomadate the center overhead console.

I'm sure I'm forgetting something but can't think of it at the moment. I inquired about it at my local Ford dealer and they said it was probably a dealer conversion but they had no idea who had done it. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. BTW I live in Washington State.

Did you check him into the Betty Ford clinic?

Lotus has had the name Esprit for a while, I think pretty well into the mid 80's.

Be kinda cool if it actually existed.

Maybe it was a conglomeration of Ranger GT parts?

Some BII's actually had ground effects. I'd say it was probably a dealer conversion, or someones custom truck, like the Ford people said.

It wasnt a Conversion company was it?

later,
Dustin

they exeist and i might be able to get a picture of one tomorrow, unless it went to scrap hell.last i seen it was 7 months or so ago. the owner is a previous neighbor. i once questioned him on his kit being a 4x4 not to mention the visor. factory he says. any who he 's the second owner his parents the first. if i get a few i'll see if it still lives

I wonder if it was a Bronco II XLS that someone customized.

Esprit was also a trim level for Firebirds, I'm quite sure GM owns the trademark for it.
FYI the Esprit was the chick-car trim level for Firebirds much the same as Berlinetta was for Camaro.

nah but I seriously doubt this was a legit trim level.

I also live in washington. i own what i think is one of "the esprit" tell me if the paint job had this kind, maybe not the colors, but the design. message me and i can send a picture, its sort of a two tone with a third fade up right?
