Have a 88' BII, 2.9ltr, 5 speed. Started doing this bout a week ago. When i crank it cold it'll idle up really high for bout 10 seconds then slowly come down to idle speed. After driving 3-4 miles and it warms up can smell gas and it develops a "miss" like it's running on 4-5 cylinders. (Sounds like it has an exhaust leak but doesn't). When am sitn' still and rev it up or when driving and push the clutch in and let off the gas to stop or make a turn the engine "sloooowly" comes back down to idle...like in slo-motion. Never saw this before. Here's what have done last 6 years. Replaced Computer(Got Wet 6 years) Replaced in tank Fuel Pump and FP Regulator(5 years), Replaced Distributor, Ignition Module, and Coil(3 years), EEC and Fuel Pump Relays(2 years), Map Sensor(1 1/2 years), Intake Air Temp, Coolant Temp, Idle Air Control, and TPS(1 year). All Connectors have good Grounds and everything is getn' correct voltage! Am thinkn' maybe it's tha Ignition Module. When it gets warmed up somethings "breaking down." Have checked all components except the Map Sensor and Ignition Module. Don't have a Vacuum Gauge to check Map Sensor but when i pull hose off it idles down really bad. Dunno how to check Ignition Module. Also tried to pull Codes but get no response. Anybody got any ideas? I live way back in tha sticks, no friends around, and it's my only ride...Help!

if youre getting no response from the ECM when you try to pull codea thats not a good thing.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks?
