Bronco ii 4.0 Heavy white smoke?

My recently swapped 93 4.0 is blowing white smoke heavy at idle when warm and when Deceleration. radiator resovoir was boiling temp climbs but doesn't get out of hand... Head gasket? Compression is 90 on cylinder 4 the rest are 150 or so... I have the 2.9 radiator Cooling the 4.0 is this radiator enough or should I upgrade? The smoke is thick and lingers could this be a MAF issue?

I doubt it's maf. I think it's head gsket. here's a thread I found using the google custom search bar at the top right of every page;

I've had that happen it's the head gasket I bet.The 2.9 radiator works fine I put a double thick one out of a tow package Explorer it gives you less fan clearance though not sure it's worth the trouble.

I wish I had seen this post when it was more current. Too bad no follow up yet.

I want to ask if it is smoke or steamy. Pure White Smoke is transmission fluid being sucked into the intake manifold from a blown transmission regulator. I had this happen to me a couple years ago and it was so bad that i cut a hole in the floor boards to access it more often. the replacements i was buying from parts stores were cheap and wouldn't last a week. I had to go to a trans shop to get one after replacing 4 cheap ones.

I also had to splice in a clear fluid filter into the vacuum line so i could watch when they were breaking. air was passed easy and when i started to see red fluid i knew it was blowing another regulator.

If you want to watch for yourself what happens when trans oil enters your intake ... get a jar with some trans oil in it, get a vacuum hose and stuff it into the oil and let some be sucked into the tree on the intake. this happened to me with a 4L engine.
