Bronco II - 2.8l Carbs

I've gotten everything I need for my 2.8l Duraspark conversion except the coil. Someone from Craigslist wants to trade me a Holley 500 for some home theater speakers.

My question, is the Holley 500 too much in the 2.8 BII? Will it put a huge dent in MPG at all if I keep my foot out of it? Or am I going to have to have it jetted waaaay down just to make it drivable?

That's way more carb than you need. Look for a 250-350cfm model. As I recall, a Motorcraft with 1.08 or 1.21 venturi's is plenty.
 
i tried it...way to big...ended up getting a holley 350 and didnt have to do any tuning... couldnt be happier
 
NMb2 wheres your input i know you have a 2.8 in that B2uggie of yours :)
 
mine kept stalling when u gave it anything over 1/4 throttle. ran like ass, and got about 5mpgs. way too much air and fuel comming in a small motor. from what people told me on here, u can jet it down but u never will be able to get it just right, it will always be too rich or too lean
 
The 1.21 autolite/motorcraft is also too big stick with the 350 holly or 1.08 motorcraft 2100 or 2150.
 
If you have a stock TFI coil will work just fine you dont need a resistor and diode wired in. Just wire it the same as the first color diagram in the tech library under duraspark conversion. The TFI coil works best with the stock plugs for the 2.8.
