I have a little damage here, the picture should explain it all. Anyone have suggestions of fixing this? I've thought about welding but I think it'll just crack again next to the welds.

You can really see the damage from the bottom pic, its not the bracket I'm worried about, I'm sure I could find one of those, its the crack in the cross member that holds my engine in that worry's me.

Replace it. There are a ton of guys on here that should have those passenger side beam brackets laying around.

I would weld the crossmember back up, and replace the bracket with a good quality one (say from Skyjacker). The Skyjacker bracket mounts on the opposite side of the crossmember lip, leaving that side open to weld a reinforcement plate onto it if needed.

Looks like that thing's been broken like that for a good while. What lift is that? (Tuff Country?)

It is a tuff country, and the bracket has been broken awhile, but the crack in the cross member is growing. I can tell its getting bigger, so my plan is to drill a hole at the tip of the crack so it doesn't crack futher than weld the thing back together.

Yeah, you need to fix that ASAP. That's not safe (infact, I would not drive that thing at all until it is fixed and you have a new bracket on there).

The truck is parked now awaiting a auto to maunal trans swap. The auto trans shorted out recently and caused the computer fuses to pop, I know its the trans because if I unplug the connectors to it, the fuses didn't pop. So I figure I'll put in the manual and save some head aches, also I'm planning to tackle the rear main seal. The manual is the mazda from a 92 with a 2.9 in it with the stx package, the weird part is the truck also had the 8.8 rear axle. Anyways, I figure welding up the cross member will be easier with the trans out, than I can sit under the truck and weld it instead of laying under it.

My a4ld in my 91 was blowing the main EEC fuse in the fuse box under the hood.

Ended up being the shift solenoid wireing had got caught between the pan and body of the transmission the last time I had the pan off to change the filter (over a year had gone by since the filter change so it took a while). The wire wore through the gasket and the insulation on the wire and then caused it to short to ground.

Repaired the wire and its been fine since.
