Hi All, new here. Got a 2002 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 with 380,000 miles on it. Yes folks- built on a wednesday. Due to that fact I've been under it more than in it. Most recently I replaced the fuel pump and in the process accidently snapped the rear vent hose fitting out of the fuel tank where it meets the hoses going to the EVAP canister. It is a "Y" in the EVAP line and one side is broken. Anyone know if this is necessary to keep the CEL off or know where to get a replacement? All help is appreciated!

Yes it's necessary.

Thanks for the reply Dirtman! I figured as much. Next question- where do I find parts for that end of the system? I can only find fuel lines and purge valve lines. None of them shows where they would attach to that rear fitting on the fuel tank.

Hello Rangeroo,

Were you able to find a replacement part? My truck recently had the fuel pump replaced, and about a month later the "check fuel cap" light (code P0457) came on. The mechanic found the Y connector for the fuel tank vent valve to canister broken and is currently searching for the part. Thanks!

As someone who just broke this. Found this thread, and saw that there was no answer I thought I’d share.

First the broken Y-valve in question is just a 1/2in T with a 5/16 split. You can buy brass or plastic ones on Amazon for like $8, buy pinch crimps too.

I tried this and it’s so tight I cut out too much for everything to connect. So be careful, would definitely recommend using a razor to split it and pull to save tube.

If you want the actual part, its base is 9G291. However the actual part will be something like Ford 1L5Z-9G291-CA Tube Assembly - Fuel. The other numbers come from your truck’s engine, year, and if you’re buying the part with fuel lines. Dont buy it with fuel lines, if you can. The parts with fuel lines run $400, while without it’s like $100.

Lastly something to keep in mind, this part is like 52in long since it runs from up by your fuel filter all the way to evap can by your spare tire. So shipping can cost an arm and a leg. Just call a few local dealers, and actually call a few because they’ll give different prices. Plus you save shipping.
