After I got done with my lift, I had my truck in for an alignment. Got it back with a 1.5 degree camber correction bushing. Everything was fine and dandy until the first time I took it wheelin about a week later. When I got back, I noticed that two of the teeth on the new bushing had broken off, and the castle nut on the upper balljoint was like finger tight. Tightened that up, cotter pin back in, figured I'd drive it a bit and see what happened.

Well I took it out again last weekend, had some fun, got it home and all but three or four teeth are gone, all on the portion of the bushing that faces the tire.

I can get some pics if needed... I am stumped as to what could be causing this and how to fix it. :icon_confused:

Sounds like something is still loose on it. That bushing should not move around at all in there if the nut/bolt is tight.

I'd take it back to the shop that did the alignment.

That's what I was thinking, just don't get how the nut can be tight yet the bushing still walks all over and gets torn apart. My knowledge of that stuff is pretty limited though.

don't let them charge you, someone got lazy and f'd up your 100$ alignment, its pretty common on our trucks(ttb)

So I've heard. Damn, $100 for an alignment? Mine was only $56, but they will fix it regardless. Really I was expecting a little more...the alignment shop I went to has a pretty good reputation around here.

Are there different "thicknesses" of camber bushings? I took another look at it yesterday and it seems like if you tighten the nut to spec, the cotter pin hole is above the top of the nut, so if it gets loose, the nut is free to turn until it hits the pin.

Haha, yeah...I have one with 4.10s and a 4.10 disk 8.8 sitting in an Ex right now...just gotta find some time to pull them.

I just got it back from the shop, they figured out what was wrong, after I had to explain how the camber bushing thing works. Apparently two teeth keeping it from falling through the balljoint hole and 1/4 inch of play in the wheel is "just fine"....

They called me back about 2 hours later and said, umm, yeah we screwed up, the bushing was definitely not the right size. So I'm good to go now, hopefully it will stay together.
