Hey all. My ranger is a 91, 4.0, 5 speed manual. The thermostat is stuck in it so I want to replace it...but where exactly is it? Does any one know? Thanks

Follow upper radiator hose to the engine, it attaches to thermostat housing.
It has 3 bolts that hold it on, remove the bolts and the housing, the thermostat will be inside.

Use a 192degF or 195degF replacement, NOT a 180degF
Spring on thermostat goes toward/into the engine, in case you forget

Also a new thermostat should have a "jiggle valve", this is simply a hole in the thermostat plate with a metal pin in it.
Thermostat should be mounted with this hole at 12:00, it is there to allow air to escape when you refill the system, or if air should get into the system in the future.
While a "jiggle valve" is not required it can make refilling easier, if I get a thermostat with out one, I drill a 1/8" hole in the plate and mount it at 12:00.

"Jiggle valve" name is because the metal pin jiggles in normal use so keeps the hole open and free from debris.
