I thought that was pretty cool when I read about that! Thankfully no one was killed, that I know of. The article I read didn't specify if they kept the hijackers on board to turn in to the US warships or if they jumped in thier boats and hauled ass.
They all got away with capt hostage. They released their one pirate captive in exhange for the captain. But the pirates renigged and high tailed it with the captain.
maybe its time we go back to merchant vessels running heavily armed.........
It's time for the convoy system. Some modern destroyers with Phalanx ciws would do the trick on the small craft and cheaper sea sparrow missiles on the larger craft would get r done.Torpedoes are god awful expensive.
Pirates are Terrorists and should be dealt with a leathal dose of American whoopass.
If you would just run a unescorted convoy I bet they wouldn't mess with it.
These are guys in little wooden boats with machine guns, not the German Wolfpack.
The cargo ship is now under protecton of USS Bainbridge.

They found the pirate lifeboat but so far it is a standoff... wonder what they are thinking about with a destroyer sitting right beside them.
