I thought that was pretty cool when I read about that! Thankfully no one was killed, that I know of. The article I read didn't specify if they kept the hijackers on board to turn in to the US warships or if they jumped in thier boats and hauled ass.

They all got away with capt hostage. They released their one pirate captive in exhange for the captain. But the pirates renigged and high tailed it with the captain.

It's time for the convoy system.Some modern destroyers with Phalanx ciws would do the trick on the small craft and cheaper sea sparrow missiles on the larger craft would get r done.Torpedoes are god awful expensive.

I would suspect they are a little better armed when they need to be,with the monies they have been able to extort from other countries.

I reviewed my original idea,and believe a Lha or Cvn with task force in the region is warranted.Cvn to carry extra US Marine attack helicopters,Lha already equipped.Get Some!

Probably how to avoid a quick trip to see Allah.About the best they can hope for is an exchange,Captain for safe passage.

Having served aboard a similar destroyer,I can tell you that the destroyer has any number of ways to ruin your day.
