I just bought a set of 1.7:1 roller rockers for my 3.0 for $100. Guy swears theyre for a vulcan. They came off of a 3.0. It comes with push rod guides and rocker arm studs. I have no clue who made them. The only markings on them are on the top that say 1.7 and on the side on the bearings have the bearing typr. Any clue who makes 1.7s like this?

Also will i have a problem putting them under stock valve covers (its a 3.0 out of a 95)?

And what should i do to set them? Should i have a certain size shim between the roller and valve? Or just do it by feel? I assume if i put it so that its just tight enough i can wiggle it but barely the hydraulic lifters will compensate enough for them.
:icon_confused:

Thankyou as always again
Drew

Welp turns out the studs have the wrong thread pattern to go into the head... did the thread patterns change anytime during production?

They're probably cobbled 5.0 rollers.... the 5.0 (or 302) used standard threading and the 3.0 is all metric. There's some conversion of threading to be done, not to mention the geometry isn't always quite right.... did the guy say why he took them off?

He was building the truck for someobe else and that dudes mom wrecked it. He said theyre tom moranas.

Figured out they work. Broke the tap in the #3 exhaust pedestal. Getting another head later this week. Im not happy.:bawling:

Oh well maybe ill find some time to port the heads before i put it back together.:icon_welder:

Good luck and let us know how it works out. I've been heavily considering roller rockers because the reviews I've heard are glowing, but I've yet to come across much info as for follow up, in say 5-10K miles....
