I might, considering how much $$$ you're going to spend on bodywork to get an original one straight (unless of course you do it all yourself.) New rustproofing & modern welding can't hurt either.

Lucky for me, I already have a '66:icon_thumby:

Someone with 15k and a lot of time on their hands.

Someone who doesn't feel like pissing around with hidden rust problems, past shoddy collision repair work etc. Things like that are hard to detect until you really start tearing into a car apart for restoration.

Combined with that parts are getting harder and harder to find. Well, GOOD parts. Add up your time and money for the the work needed to get one to as high a quality and condition as these new ones and you might just scratch your head a little harder.

Screw it. If I had 15k+ whatever needed to complete it, of course I would. Could you imagine? a 65 stang with a lightweight 2011 5.0 engine, with a good 6 speed behind it, with modern handling suspension, whatever interior you like best, no matter what that may be.

Lets face it, we all love the old look, and aside from the overly complicated repairs we also love the reliability, power, and efficiency of new vehicles. This is the perfect chance to make your dream car come true.

Question of the day is will the new 5.0 even fit...

I can see where it would have its place, but I think before I built a new car one piece at a time I would rather just have a new car.

Pieceing it together adds up darn quick... $15k would catch what I want in a '65 Mustang on the open market. I doubt you would make it a runner for what you could get a brand new Mustang GT would run... and I doubt it would even equal it in anything aside from looks for the same dollar spent.

Any small block should fit. Big Block, no.

What to title it, I don't know.

Then, it probably won't fit.

Since I have a 69 Mustang with a big block, I'd say no on getting one. But if they came out with a 1955 Crown Victoria, and I had enough money, I'd get one of those for my Dad. That was his favorite car. My Mustang has always been my favorite. The pic is in my profile.

I wonder if you'd have to have all the emissions stuff in those sorta new ones?

The new 5.0 is modular. That's not the same as a small block.

And I kinda ROFLed when I read all those comments about the "chassis" and what not on the article page. Kinda like they think these things have a full frame. Guess they don't know that the Mustang is a uni-body car.
