So I go to O'reilys pick up every thing, wheel cylinders shoes, spring kit. get all home after 40 min drive home, put the wheel cylinder in its hole, put the bolts in tighten them down, there miss machined and and wont tighten down so I try the other one, way worse than the other, they didnt machine the shoulder down far enough so the bolts cant tigten up against the backing plate, so then I check the shoes there two wide so I go online, parts are correct number there just junk, the parts that they are selling for $20 are like $6 online, so I went to napa they pulled some out, I checked them out, both where stuck solid pulled the plastic cup on the back still stuck, scatch them off my list, so I ended up ordering new Motorcraft parts online yea $25 more but Iam done with the box stores, cheapest crap at high prices spend the buck and get good stuff. lucky Iam no in a hurry:headbang::headbang::headbang:

i hear you, dude.

related to that: sometimes i think that some "disgruntled parts guy" switched out a part with some other part on purpose or pulled out a piece that is part of a kit or assembly.

Yup I hear your ya. Only issue, I don't recommend the motorcraft brake though. I have a 2011, and them brakes are junk. 3 years in, Ford had to change brake on warranty 3 times :O If ever it rains and your out driving, lift your foot off that brake pedal if you see an approaching puddle, they'll warp

Yep, check it twice against original removed parts before you buy. Ignoramus folks at the parts plants (can you say Chinee T-shirt?) dump crap in a box, gets spilled and reboxed on the way to the store through 3 or so warehouses, then tossed on the shelf, where a chimp in a red shirt and blue Beeber cap looks it up on the old computer (while selfie-ing or sexting his home-slice baby momma to be), pulls the right or wrong box (it's a crap shoot) and sells it to you. I think the oil companies own all the stores with really atrocious customer service, cause I spend so much time and gas running back to get the right stuff or just take their crap back...gas down the hole, Joe.

Yup, I worked at a parts store a while back, and parts get mixed up in the boxes, especially if a customer request 5 similar parts and they're all on the table at once.

Customers have taken boots or pieces from an assembly, and then the missing parts get mistakenly restocked (thinking that they are normal and complete). It happens.

Some overseas parts ARE junk. However, a good majority of the parts that I have used have faired well and worked as it should. Certain quality parts need to be made the exception though.

Please don't turn this into another "all Chinese parts are crap" thread.

Road Angels, glad you were able to locate your parts and they are now going to fit together. If you have a question regarding assembly or why it's not sitting flush, post a pic and hopefully we can help you out.

It is a crapshoot of your own making. I've been buying parts for about 45 years now and have learned to take the old parts in and compare to the new. Yes, service is not as good and the counter person is not to swift...most people know this. Avoid the stress and wasted time and compare! Bum a ride, take a cab, just don't assume you will be given the right part.

Last month I went to auto zone and bought a 11" clutch plate for my 5.0. Got it home, went to put it in and luckily I looked at it before I did. The pad material was so thin it was literally thinner than the plate I just took out of the truck. I had to open the plastic bag it came in so there wasn't a chance someone swapped a old one in then returned it. $67 for a POS and I returned it the next day.

Once had the counter dude at the Ford house in Bryan, Texas, give me king pins for an F600 rather than an F100...say what??? Quite a bit of difference Poindexter! Had to return them on my roomie's Honda 360 with little or no brakes...dodging blue haird grannies in caddies on rain-slick streets...definitely a brown pants ride.

brakes

Having been ase certified for brakes I have done hundreds of brake jobs, the no fit was because of bad machine work both wheel cylinders where not machined the same I know the cause, heres the thing most of the suff these days is cnc machined, the good and the bad can be very consistant machine work and be percise, the bad is if its wrong having been miss calibrated, or worn part in the machines, it can produce thousands of parts that are wrong before its caught, usally by a random pull of a part and checking it against spec's, as far as Motorcraft parts and water goes you put any thing hot in water its going to warp and to get water into the lip shielded rear brakes they had to have been more than puddles you were going thru, the parts I checked out where the right parts just crap, I pulled the part numbers up before I got there and double checked against what he looked up and pulled
