Ok thing are a bit tight $$ wise now and I know that Im in need of front brakes. So the other day im driving home and hear this ridculous noise coming from the rear of the truck !!!

I pull over to look underneath and see nothing. I drive slowly thru the lot and sounds like ive got broken pads or springs bounicing around in the drums

Got some decent weather and pulled the rear wheels and to my surprise, all I see are completely assemled brakes, no broken anything WTF???

I have my son press the pedal to see what may be happening both brake assemblies push out, however they dont retract to their normal position in a non braking mode.

I tore down one assemby and put in all new springs, regreased everything and Im still getting the same noise. I had the the rotors and the pads checked out and they are still spec.

Ive read in a few places that if yor fronts are shitty then it may affect the backs, Any truth ???

Any comments would be appreciated

well if the fronts are so bad why dont you just put new pads on them? if i were you, id check the back shoes and see if they were put on properly. I know that if the shoes are put on backwards they will grab too hard and make weird noises. The reason for this is the tread on the shoes have different treads, and i forget but im pretty sure the bigger goes on top , but im not 100 percent sure, but i also had a friend who had the same probem, and i would check the abs sensors and the brakes lines. They could have rusted out, and i have heard of that happening before

more info

Ok,so here is a bit more info. When I had my son depress the brake, I had no fluid escape from the lines or wheel cylinders. The rears were done a lil over a year ago so if the pads were on backwards, wouldn't I have noticed this earlier?

Did you try adjusting the rears? If they have a lot of slack in the adjustment they will sometimes make noise or grab, the auto adjusters are not very reliable.
