I hate electrical so I will ask for some help. My 98 explorer has brake lights when its off, but when you start it up no more brake lights. I have all other lights just not brake lights. :icon_confused:

Odd problem since it should have brake lights anytime, the key shouldn't even matter. Get a test light, ground one end and check for 12V at the brake light switch. You should always have 12V at one side of the switch (supply voltage) and hot on the other side when only when you apply the brakes. Find out what you have at the switch with the engine on and off and go from there.
